A 10,000mAh battery, a large AMOLED display, and extra protection against water and dust. The new vivo Y600 brings all three together in a smartphone designed for people who need more than just a regular daily-use device.
vivo has announced the Y600 in China, featuring a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e processor, and 44W fast charging. The phone also runs Android 16 with OriginOS 6 and offers up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
A huge 10,000mAh battery
Battery life is one of the biggest concerns for smartphone users. A phone may have a great display and a powerful processor, but what good are those features if you constantly need to look for a charger?
That is where the vivo Y600 stands out. Its 10,000mAh battery is much larger than the batteries found in many mainstream smartphones and is designed to keep the device running for longer between charges.
The phone supports 44W fast charging. While this is useful for a battery of this size, the charging speed alone does not tell us how long a full charge will take. vivo has not provided enough information here to confirm the exact charging time or real-world battery life.
The company also says the battery is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -35°C to 50°C and carries a seven-year durability rating for ultra-low-temperature use. These are manufacturer claims, and actual performance will depend on the conditions in which the phone is used.
There is one trade-off, though. The large battery makes the phone heavier than many everyday smartphones. The listed weight is around 224g to 225g, depending on the version. So, while the extra battery capacity may appeal to people who spend long hours outdoors, those who prefer lighter phones should keep the weight in mind.
6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate
The vivo Y600 features a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1260 × 2800 pixels. It supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which makes scrolling through apps and websites feel smoother than on a standard 60Hz display.
The screen also supports HDR10+ and has a claimed peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits in high-brightness mode. This should help when viewing content in bright surroundings, although actual brightness will depend on the viewing conditions.
Dimensity 7300e processor
Under the hood, the vivo Y600 runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300e chipset, built using a 6nm process. The processor has eight CPU cores with clock speeds of up to 2.5GHz, paired with a Mali-G610 GPU.
The phone comes with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Storage options include 128GB and 256GB, using UFS 3.1 technology.
This hardware should cover everyday tasks such as messaging, browsing, video streaming, and switching between apps. Gaming performance will depend on the game, graphics settings, and software optimization, so it is best not to judge performance based on the processor name alone.
On the software side, the vivo Y600 runs Android 16 with OriginOS 6.
IP68 and IP69 ratings
The vivo Y600 is not just about battery capacity. It also comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water.
These ratings cover different types of exposure. IP68 relates to dust protection and water immersion under specified test conditions, while IP69 covers resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets.
vivo says the phone uses a three-layer waterproofing design and has undergone several durability tests. The phone carries a stated MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability designation as well.
50MP main camera
For photography, the vivo Y600 has a 50MP primary rear camera with a Sony IMX852 sensor and an f/1.8 aperture. The rear camera also includes a flash and vivo’s Aura Light feature. On the front, there is an 8MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls.
The specifications do not mention an ultrawide or telephoto camera, so the 50MP main camera remains the key rear imaging feature.
vivo claims better network performance with signal enhancement 3.0
Another feature worth mentioning is vivo’s Space-Time Signal Enhancement 3.0 technology. The company has paired it with a 360-degree antenna design to improve network reception.
According to vivo, the system can improve signal performance by up to 90% under its testing conditions. The phone also uses software to select networks and improve connectivity in areas with weak signals.
That could be useful for people who work outdoors or regularly travel through areas where mobile reception is inconsistent. However, the actual experience will depend on the mobile network, location, and surrounding conditions.
The Y600 also supports 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS. It includes dual-frequency GPS for navigation and an infrared blaster for controlling compatible household appliances.
For audio, vivo has added stereo speakers that it markets as a 400% Super Speaker. The supplied information does not explain the measurement behind that figure, so actual loudness and sound quality will need to be judged in practice.
