The smartphone made its way to the Indian market today. The Chinese brand was able to rope in many futuristic technologies in an 8mm wide chassis which is truly commendable.

With NEX, Vivo has shattered many industry benchmarks such as notch support which is one of the most trendy features adopted by every other brand of the smartphone after Apple unveiled it with Apple X. Vivo NEX brings many firsts in the industry such as a truly bezel-less display with 91.24% screen-to-body ratio, no notch, and first ever production-quality elevating front camera which pops up when taking selfies.

Vivo NEX sports a stunning wide 16.74cm (6.59-inches) Ultra FullView screen with a 91.24% screen-to-body ratio. Chucking the trending notch support, Vivo decided to keep the NEX notch-free which enabled it to achieve near the bezel-less screen with 5.08mm bezel on the bottom, 2.16mm on the top, and 1.71mm on each side. The futuristic tech smartphone features a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED Display featuring  1080 x 2316 pixels which float on the screen and bents towards the corners.

The high-tech Vivo NEX has curved edges and rounded corners across the screen and glass back with a great blend of ergonomics and comfort one could aspire while holding it. A laser with the nano-precision technique used in producing color diffractions at the back glass panel makes it look stunning and completely different from any other smartphones in the high-end segment.

The Next level photography experience on Vivo NEX

Embrace the first ever smartphone to house the world’s first elevating front camera that pops up when the user wants to take a selfie and retracts back to its housing beneath the screen when the selfie is done. Vivo decided to create a tech-driven product as opposed to the self-driven capabilities that it has been introducing for more than a year now. The rear camera is a dual-camera setup with Dual Pixel Technology and 12+5MP sensor capable of shooting extremely superior quality of videos and photos every time. Vivo has introduced OIS technology with the rear cameras that capture blur-free and focused images even if the subject or the photographer is moving quickly.

What’s more? Both front and rear cameras leverage the use of Vivo’s AI technology that detects the best photos settings based on the conditions. The Ai is a learning-based technology that gradually learns and suggests the best possible photo conditions and modes. With Vivo NEX, you get a plethora of features such as AR Stickers, Portrait Bokeh, Backlight HDR, Time Lapse, just to name a few.

But again, if you love taking selfies, NEX won’t satisfy your needs even with Vivo’s armamentarium of filters and effects.

Vivo has been teasing and flaunting its In-Display Fingerprint feature for more than a year now. Although the Chinese brand had earlier launched smartphones such as Vivo X21, Vivo Apex concept with such technology, the Vivo NEX sports a third generation In-Display Fingerprint which is something not even Apple has perfected yet.

According to Vivo, the third generation In-Display Fingerprint sensor used with Vivo NEX sports a 50 percent higher recognition accuracy and it is 10 percent faster than its predecessor. This is one of the coolest and high-tech features where the fingerprint reader which otherwise would have to be mounted in the front or the rear that could have disturbed its unique design, is actually housed beneath the screen. Also, the sensor area is small with the just a size of a thumb, it is still mesmerizing to see how the phone detects the fingerprint with a near neon light giving a dramatic and sci-fi appearance.

Music & Sound emanating without a speaker

Vivo NEX

Unfortunately, there is no speaker aperture or outlet visible anywhere on the smartphone. Then how does it emanates sound? Vivo has a perfect technology developed for Vivo NEX i.e. Screen SoundCasting technology wherein the speakers are built-in and emanates through the OLED Panel making the entire 6.59-inch screen an earpiece. This placement reduced the bezel considerably and that is why Vivo NEX has a 91.24% screen-to-body ratio.

The smartphone has a DAC, three amplifiers, and Vivo’s developed Hi-Fi audio technology that gives distortion-free sound while taking calls or listening to music or watching a movie on a colossal rounded corner OLED panel.
