Oppo recently unveiled its Oppo R17 Pro and just a few days after that, the internet is buzzing with yet another smartphone render that recently appeared on Weibo, a Chinese social networking site. The image is believed to be of upcoming Oppo R19 with the date ‘2019.3’ or say March 2019 which goes in-line with the current pattern followed by Oppo for its launch. But it is not just Oppo R19 but also a possible render for upcoming OnePlus 7. This is because OnePlus usually launches smartphones based on the appearance of Oppo R-series of smartphones.

Talking about Oppo R19, the render showcases a completely new design with a metallic back finish and a no-notch design. Yes, Oppo could get rid of the waterdrop notch which you can spot in Oppo R17 and Oppo R17 Pro. But the phone will still have an edge-to-edge display with an extremely thin bezel around the edges and so will be the chin with just a cut-out for a front camera which might not be connected to the upper bezel.

Leaked Oppo R19 could be a glimpse into the future for OnePlus 7

The Oppo R19 will have rear dual-camera setup arranged vertically along with no home button but an in-display fingerprint scanner located at the bottom of the screen. Furthermore, Oppo could launch the R19 with upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 or SDM855 which is in the making and will be available early next year somewhere around when Oppo decides to launch the smartphone in March 2019.

But the question is, how a render for Oppo R19 could reveal the look of upcoming OnePlus 7 which is still in mystery since OnePlus is busy marketing its OnePlus 6T that will be launched on October 30? The answer is pretty simple. Oppo launched Oppo R11 last year in March and OnePlus took the design element to create OnePlus 5 that was launched in May 2017.

Then, Oppo launched its OnePlus R11s which later became the bane for OnePlus 5T and similarly, R15 became the backbone for OnePlus 6 (May 2018) and finally, the Oppo R17 Pro became the inspiration for OnePlus 6T and since both the brands are under the same group ‘BBK Electronics’, it is no doubt that the upcoming Oppo R19 will be a pointer to the future before OnePlus 7 could launch somewhere around April/May 2019 which is usually the time when OnePlus launches its flagship smartphones followed by incremental model in October or November the same year.

As of now, OnePlus is busy marketing it upcoming OnePlus 6T in the market as it will release in India on October 30 followed by a global launch on November 6. The upcoming smartphone will have everything that OnePlus 6 offered along with few add-ons like the in-display fingerprint scanner, larger display with a teardrop or waterdrop-shaped notch, larger battery, and Android Pie 9.0-based OxygenOS 9.0 out-of-the-box.

Fast forward to May 2019, OnePlus could launch the OnePlus 7 with latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 aka SDM855 which is also under making and as per Qualcomm, it will be included in the majority of flagship smartphones releasing next year. So, let’s wait and watch what OnePlus and Oppo have to offer. Meanwhile, watch out for OnePlus 6T launch on True-Tech on October 30.
