Looks like the wait for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series launch is about to end. Turns out Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Corporation, took it to Weibo to announce the unveiling of the series with a brand-new back screen touted to arrive on September 16th.
Xiaomi 18 Pro series launch is happening this month!
Soon after, Xiaomi (Weibo) posted the same teaser showing the 18 Pro’s back screen illuminating around its edges and with Leica branding for the cameras on board. It’s not just the teaser, but it also shows what the phone would look like, at least from the backside.
Xiaomi is expected to launch the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China possibly on September 16th, with shipping starting soon. Both devices will have a back screen the size of their vertically stacked rear cameras. Call it unfortunate, but the design looks similar to that of the Xiaomi 17 Pro series.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro series will be the first flagship smartphone lineup powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro SoCs that launches at the Snapdragon Summit 2026 happening next week. Last year, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC was released at the summit, and soon after, the Xiaomi 17 Pro series arrived on September 25 in China.
It is ideal for Xiaomi to launch its flagship phones right as Snapdragon announces its next-gen chips. It means Xiaomi could be unveiling the phones on September 16th in China, while the official launch may be awaited until next week.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max Geekbench listing
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max was recently spotted on a Geekbench listing bearing model number M1544F. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro SoC, clocked at a whopping 5.11GHz max frequency. The chipset was able to hit 485K points on AnTuTu, outrunning the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC in the process.
It seems like the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max are making their launch in their home country this week. Additionally, only the Pro Max might see a wider global launch a few weeks down the line. Finally, we have a vanilla Xiaomi 18 expected to arrive sometime in December, although the final dates for any of these launches are still a mystery.
