Huawei P50 series is now official. After months of waiting and weeks of leaks suggesting various features, the Huawei P50 is finally here and it runs on HarmonyOS and it doesn’t have a Pro+ variant this time. I am talking about the now-announced Huawei P50 and P50 Pro unveiled in China with improved chipsets, cameras, and other specifications alike.

First up is the USP of the phone aka the cameras, the P50 sports a 50MP primary sensor with a 23mm lens, OIS, and f/1.8 aperture. There’s a 13MP ultra wide-angle snapper with f/2.2 aperture and a 13mm focal length with laser autofocus. There’s a 12MP periscope lens with 125mm focal length, f/3.4 aperture, and OIS. Finally, there’s a 13MP selfie shooter along with an f/2.4 aperture.

Huawei P50 arrives in a single Snapdragon 888 SoC and again, it comes with 4G so there’s no 5G connectivity here even if the chipset is capable of it. There’s 8GB of RAM and 128GB and 256GB of internal storage and there’s an NM card slot available at your disposal. The device runs on HarmonyOS 2.0 out-of-the-box.

The phone possesses a 6.5-inch OLED panel with the same 1225×2700 pixels resolution. There’s a 90Hz refresh rate with a 300Hz touch sampling rate with HDR support.

There’s a 4,100 mAh battery under the hood along with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging support with a USB-C port at your disposal.

As per the pricing, the Huawei P50 arrives at a price tag of CNY 4,500/- or $700 for the base 8GB+128GB variant while the higher 8GB+256GB model arrives at CNY 5,000 and arrives in September.

The Huawei P50 Pro packs in the same 50MP primary snapper, a 40MP black & white camera with f/1.6 aperture, 26mm lens; a 64MP periscope lens with OIS, f/3.5 aperture, and a 90mm focal length with 3.9x optical and up to 2,700mm digital zoom. There’s a 13MP ultrawide snapper on-board as well with an f/2.2 lens and 13mm focal length and Laser AF.

Huawei P50 Pro packs in a feature called XD Fusion Pro is an image fusion system that gathers twice the amount of light and dynamic range by 28 percent compared to the Huawei P40 Pro. The device is capable of recording videos at 4K resolution while the higher 8K resolution is not available. You can do slow motion at 1080p@960fps. There’s a 13MP selfie shooter with an f/2.4 aperture.

The uber flagship device sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC while another variant is backed by a Kirin 9000 SoC with 4G support even when both the chipsets support next-gen 5G networks.

The Pro is available in multiple storage variants. This includes an 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 8GB+512GB plus an NM card slot capable of tuning up the storage additionally by 256GB. There’s a 12GB+512GB Pro model too.

The device is highly-specced at a curved 6.9-inch OLED panel boasting a 1225×2700 pixels resolution with 450 PPI. The display is rated with 300Hz touch sampling with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device runs on HarmonyOS 2.0 out-of-the-box.

As per the pricing, Huawei P50 Pro arrives at a base 8GB+128GB with SD888 at CNY 6,000 ($930), its 256GB and 512GB models arrive at CNY 6,488 and CNY 7,488 respectively. Note that the 8GB+256GB configuration has both Kirin 9000 and Snapdragon 888 options available. The Kirin 9000 variant with 512GB storage is available at CNY 7,500. The highest of all, the 12GB+512GB variant is available at CNY 8,000 and CNY 8,500 both with Kirin 9000. Unlike the vanilla Huawei P50, the Huawei P50 Pro is available for sale starting on August 12.

Both the smartphones have dual-band Wi-Fi 6 support along with Bluetooth v5.2 (LE and A2DP), NFC, stereo speaker setup, under-the-display fingerprint scanner, Hybrid dual SIM card slot, IP68 water and dust resistance, and so on.
