Hugo Barra is a known name to the tech world as he held top positions at Google and Xiaomi before his current role at Facebook. He recently posted some pictures of the retail box of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, which already is a much-hyped device. The images also reveal some crucial details about the phone.
The Mi MIX launched last year had set a benchmark for the smartphone industry with its class-leading screen to body ratio. This year’s iteration plans to take it further with a ground-breaking screen to body ratio of 93 percent with an AMOLED display of 6.4 inches. Some of the previously leaked images have shown a display with just one bezel towards the bottom.
Like you can see in the included images, the box of the Mi MIX 2 is completely black with text written in golden colour. One of the images shows the back of the box and that’s where the phone’s details are mentioned. On a closer look, you will find that the phone will come with a 6GB RAM variant that will have an internal storage of 256GB.
Apart from this, some reports have also mentioned the translated version of the text written in Chinese. According to that, the Mi MIX 2 will have a ceramic edition, a material that Xiaomi has used in many of its smartphones. The production date on the box says August 2017 which means that the mass production of the phone has already started as it’s all set to be announced today, September 11th.
The box sent to Barra also has a note signed by Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s co-founder. This note may or may not be included in the final retail box of the phone. However, the unit sent to Barra seems to be a special top-end variant of the phone. There will be other variants as well with lower internal storage and maybe lower RAM as well.
That large, border-less display will definitely make the device stand out from the ever-increasing crowd of phones with thin bezels. The Mi MIX 2 is expected to be a high-end device that will come powered by Snapdragon 835 processor and will have a battery of 4500mAh.
