On July 24, Xiaomi held a global launch event in Madrid, Spain to launch its Xiaomi Mi A2 and Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, the successors to previous year’s lineup of Xiaomi Mi A1. Although the entry-level Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will not be released in India, Xiaomi Mi A2 will be formally launched tomorrow, August 8, in India. But guess what? It was recently spotted as an Amazon Exclusive product on Amazon a day ahead of its launch in India.

Talking about the launch of Xiaomi Mi A2 launch in India, its 64GB + 4GB RAM variant has been seen on Amazon at Rs. 17,499. The entry-level 32GB + 4GB RAM variant will not be launched in India while the top variant with 128GB + 6GB RAM configuration is highly unlikely to appear in Indian stores as well. The Android One enabled Xiaomi Mi A2 will be available on Amazon as well as Mi.com starting tomorrow on its formal launch in India as well as other markets around the globe.

Xiaomi did a great job with the upcoming Xiaomi Mi A2 lineup as it upgraded it a lot from its predecessor Mi A1 and it has features comparable to the premium segment Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro with a difference of just two to three thousand INR which is quite impressive. The Mi A2 brings along a massive 5.99” FHD+ IPS LCD 1080 x 2160 display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 aspect. The display is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 known to withstand multiple drops from a height of 1.0 meter.

The smartphone hosts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core clocked at 2.2 GHz processor coupled with Adreno 512 GPU which is a considerable boost over the last year’ Mi A1. The Indian version of Xiaomi Mi A2 is a 64GB + 4GB RAM variant with no microSD card which means, users will have to make arrangements beforehand as no further expansion is possible.

The camera department has received an impeccable boost with 12+20MP rear dual-camera setup with AI capabilities that takes stunning photos as well as videos at 4K@30fps and has a gyro-EIS with an aperture of f/1.8+f/1.8 coupled with 1.25µm and 1.0µm pixel size capable of shooting brightly-lit and picture-perfect photos even in the low light conditions. The front snapper has a 20MP sensor with superpixel and an aperture of f/2.2 that can take full HD videos at 30fps.

What’s more exciting is that Xiaomi Mi A2 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Android One program which means, it will be among the first devices to receive Android 9 Pie once Google starts rolling out the update for other smartphones apart from its Google Pixel, Essential Phones, and those signed up for Android Beta program. If you can’t wait for the Xiaomi Mi A2, you can go to Amazon and pre-order the smartphone a day before it is actually launched on Amazon and Mi.com at Rs. 17,499.
