Apple’s policies are pretty strict when it comes to allowing an app to its app store. That’s why iOS developers have to meet certain criterions before their apps are distributed to users. Some of those requirements include no pornographic content and no stolen content. But this time Apple messed it up. You will now be able to see an app which is popularly known as Netflix for Pirates in the app store.
This blunt mistake was first covered by BGR who reported that an application which goes by the name MovieDB is now available on iOS app store for some unknown reasons. The MovieDB is an upgraded version of Popcorn Times which fixes a number of key bugs found in the latter. Popcorn Times is one of the popular application which lets you stream, search or download pirated movies or tv series directly on that app. Otherwise, you would use BitTorrent client to download a movie and then use a media player to watch it. The application is available for Windows and Android platforms only.
After some time, the developers of Popcorn Time made their code open source letting other devs to create an app similar to this. MovieDB uses the same open source code but provides much more improved experience and is available for iOS. But here’s the thing. MovieDB has been available in the store since April 5th and it has even received three updates since then. No one knows how and why does the Apple lets an illegal app into its store.
You can download the application either on iPad or iPhone at least for now. There is a high chance that this app will not last long on the app store. So, if you love watching pirated content then enjoy it while it lasts. Although, watching stolen content is illegal and we’re not commending the use of such pirated software.
