We have seen over the years that it becoming harder and harder to keep things under wrap when it comes to the smartphone industry. It is seen that a smartphone’s specifications and pricing get leaked weeks before launch. Now, a similar thing has happened with the OnePlus 8 series too.
As we reported last night, the OnePlus 8 series is coming next month and the launch might take place “in the second week of April”. Now, we have more details of what is to be expected from the OnePlus 8 series which includes the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.
In an exclusive report by 91Mobiles, the publication feels confident to say that the OnePlus 8 Pro will be packed with features. There will be a Snapdragon 865 processor inside the device along with 5G support. The device will have a 120Hz refresh rate panel with QHD+ resolution too.
Also, we will see multiple configurations of RAM and internal storage which will start at 8GB and get up to 12GB. As for internal storage, we will see up to 256GB super-fast storage which is expected to be UFS 3.0
The most interesting part about the OnePlus 8 Pro’s leaked specifications is that the device will have wireless charging for the first time on a OnePlus device. Not only that, OnePlus will include a 30W wireless charging capability on the device.
This also goes in line with OnePlus’ earlier comments that they find wireless charging slowly compared to their Warp Charge. Therefore, we will finally see a OnePlus phone with wireless charging that is equally fast as its wired charging
Until now, we have seen OnePlus phones with 30W wired charging with its proprietary Dash Charge technology. As per the report, the wired charging speeds of OnePlus 8 Pro will be bumped up to 50W at 10V 5A. This means that we are likely to see full charge for the device in under 30 minutes.
As for the cameras, the report reveals that OnePlus 8 Pro will continue to have four camera sensors with the fourth one being a ToF sensor. The regular OnePlus 8 will have three cameras with the exclusion of a ToF sensor. On the front, we will finally have an upgraded 32MP camera for selfies which is an upgrade from their 16MP cameras in use since last few years.
Now, this is where things get interesting because the camera system does not seem to have changed much. One thing that OnePlus users complain is regarding the cameras which are not very close to Samsung or Pixel or Apple devices even though they are priced in the same range.
While we know much about the OnePlus 8 Pro, the details are still scarce regarding the OnePlus 8. This report mentions that most of the things will be similar on the OnePlus 8 such as 120Hz refresh rate but it is expected to have an FHD+ display. As we mentioned earlier, there will be one less camera at the back of this device compared to its Pro version.
Apart from that, not much seems to be different between the two devices but expect to see the 50W wired charging of OnePlus 8 Pro and the 30W wireless charging to be limited to the device only. That means we might still have 30W Warp Charge for the OnePlus 8 along with 20W wireless charging speeds.
