1. Samsung Galaxy Note 5
What do we think of the Note 5? We were anticipating it since the leaks were out, from the very curved and all metal-glass design, the Note 5 feels super premium. Moreover, it boasts the smartphone land with the best display ever, along with a powerful camera. Exploring the full potential of it’s 4GB RAM, be it the most graphic intensive game or the heaviest and bulkiest app ever, the Note 5 with handle it without any lag. Well, along with it’s goodness it does bring some bugs too. At times the device would randomly display a message saying that the S pen was detached, even though it didn’t! Apart from that something that has been talked a lot is the #PenGate, once enter the S pen inverted, viola, you just damaged the circuit of your device along with the S pen stuck in there forever, so stay safe, don’t push your S pen inverted in!
2. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
The elder one to S6 Edge sports more RAM, more memory and an improved battery life. the S6 Edge+ provides a huge screen along with curved edges that’s pleasant as hell if you ought be a fan of it. Packing all this along with a not-so-valuable IR blaster, it comes at $680 which is a little bit expensive.
3. iPhone 6S and 6S Plus
iPhone 6S ans 6S Plus leave us amazed with the 3D touch (basically force touch) technology. 3D touch has helped us overlook what input methods can do, this will of course change how people interact with their iPhones while gaming, using social media or browsing the web. And, finally, Apple moves to a 12 megapixel camera that adds the 4K video functionality along with live photos that records 1.5 seconds prior and after you click a picture. The live photo’s motion can be viewed only by pressing with short force over the live photo image. Yeah, it does occupy a lot of space, don’t go for the 16GB variant. Additionally, what we praise Apple for is what they’ve done with the A9 chip, oh god, how blazing fast it is, the best iOS 9 experience ever is made possible using this chip!
4. LG V10
Bringing the flagship specs along with a beauty build, the LG V10 can be termed as a true flagship as it is a part of those rare devices that still sport a removable battery and expandable storage, yet maintaining the form factor! That said, the dual front camera adds to the beauty and opens a few more possibilities for taking selfies, a wide angle or a narrow shot is a choice you make.
The second screen, which is always on, kinda mimics what the Edge on the Samsung devices have do, it does add to the functionality but it’s not much of use at this point in time. Of course, new input methods do grow along with time, we will see how developers take advantage of this and come up with unique ideations.
5. Nexus 6P
Nexus devices provide a superb value for the price that was pocket friendly and affordable. Of course they weren’t the best choices out there previously, they didn’t even serve as an alternate to a flagship, but they had many advantages such as running vanilla stock android and being the first to achieve the next Android update. Google has brought a change with the 6P, now it’s a flagship comparable device and the best overall android device available out there. The stereo front facing speakers along with a beautiful screen and great cameras provide value to your buck! Although there’s no removable battery Android Marshmallow serves the best for the battery life. If you run out of battery, quick charging is always there to aid you.
6. OnePlus 2
The lack of NFC, a microSD card slot, a removable battery, and quick- and wireless charging means the OnePlus 2 is not a flagship killer. It does have some killer new features though, including USB Type-C, 4G dual-SIM support and some powerful hardware. At £289 (we don’t recommend the 16GB OP2), it’s an unrivalled deal.
The OnePlus 2, the so-called 2016 Flagship Killer doesn’t effectively beat the 2015 flagships, but it’s still a great and a beast-like phone! With a 4GB RAM, USB Type-C, 4G LTE and 16GB/64GB storage variants, it does show fluency in performance. The camera is decent for the price and does take good quality images along with 4K UHD videos. Ahh, here’s the cache, no NFC, no MicroSD and no quick charge and wireless charging support, that’s why it isn’t beating the flagships. But yet, for around $380, is an non-competitional device and a bang for your buck.
7. Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact
The Z5 compact still hold the ground by being a compact flagship! The competition is almost no more, this one just stands to be the best. Both Z5 and Z5 compact have decent specs and can compete with the rest of the flagships. But here comes the rub, a phone with chunky look and sharp edges, nah, not my choice though! Talking of the Hardware, the phone performs great, the Snapdragon 810 is used to fullest of it’s advantages and provides crispy and smooth performance! The camera is again average but the fingerprint scanner works excellent!
8. Moto X Style/Pure
Moto X Style or, generally known as ‘Pure’, walks the trend with a big screen and if you’re a fan of it, here’s a good choice! Competing against the current flagships in the battlefield, it proves itself as an equivalent with some great specs onboard, a good camera and a near stock android feel. With more than enough abilities to customise using the Moto Maker you can always have it look good as to your taste.
9. LG G4
Well, taking a new route, LG brings in awesomeness with leather based backs with multiple colour options and then, we do have the ceramic (actually plastic) back too. With a combination of brilliant hardware and a wonderful camera, it serves as a tough competition to the rest and is a strong “should-buy” from us! Not so different from the G3, it still has a better build quality, removable battery and microSD card support. It still misses the mark as there’s no wireless charging capabilities.
10. BlackBerry Priv
Serving as BlackBerry’s first attempt at an android device, it’s of course a strong and rigid device. Along with a few tweaks here and there, it provides an almost stock android experience. Additionally featuring a new security features, privacy related functions and bringing the BlackBerry feel to android, it’s a brilliant phone to go for. It also sports a 5.4 inch screen with sliding keyboard (yeah, the BlackBerry style) which has gestures enabled. All along, not a bang for your buck but it has to be in the list for the build and attempt made by BB, it’s not the best device available though.
