We know that while LG has decided to go out of its smartphone business, the company said that the decision was made to focus on its other businesses.
Looks like LG is actually doing that and focusing on its display manufacturing business. Because we have seen reports about Apple getting displays for its Mac’s external display as well as for the iPhone 14 Pro series from LG.
So far, we have seen the OLED technology from both Samsung and LG and it is fair to say that the technology has matured quite a lot now. Earlier, we used to see OLED display only on high-end smartphones but it has now started to come with mid-range and even entry-level smartphones.
As they say, innovation never stops in the technology industry and the same is the case with displays. While we are seeing Samsung focus on its mini-LED technology and betting big on its future, LG is still believing in its OLED technology.
However, that is not to say that LG is not innovating because LG has just launched its OLED EX technology. The main talking point about LG’s OLED EX technology is that it is said to have slimmer bezels, brighter screens, and higher accuracy.
LG’s statement on its OLED EX technology reveals that these new panels will “increase brightness by up to 30 percent, boost picture accuracy, and allow for smaller bezels in finished products”.
Talking about how LG managed to bring about these changes to their OLED panels, it is because of the use of a chemical element known as deuterium as well as the integration of new algorithmic image processing.
LG also reveals that it will be able to reduce bezels on its displays due to its OLED EX technology. By the way, OLED EX technology is branded as “OLED Evolution Experience” by the company.
As for the reduction in bezels, LG says it managed to bring down bezels on its 65-inch OLED TV from 6mm to just 4mm. We will have to wait and see how much improvement we get to see in real life due to the OLED EX technology when it launches.
