Qualcomm keeps updating its chipset portfolio ever so often. It has just upped the game with the launch of Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, a new mid-range option in the Snapdragon 7 Series that offers a bunch of features including Android Ready SE for e-money solutions as well as up to 200MP image sensor support, a dedicated AI Engine to name a few.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Launched
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is a midrange chipset with an octa-core architecture. It has a Kryo CPU core clocked at up to 2.4GHz. It along with the Adreno 662 GPU handles graphics at a 20% faster rate than the Snapdragon 778G while the AI tasks have improved drastically by 30%. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is dubbed a total gaming package as per Qualcomm because of its array of capabilities. It can handle up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM.
There’s an Adreno Frame Motion Engine capable of doubling the frame rates during gameplay while keeping the power consumption in line with the Snapdragon 778G.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 (dubbed SD 7 Gen 1) is paired with the Snapdragon X62 5G modem giving the chipset the ability to reach 4.4Gbps download speeds. It supports both SA and NSA 5G modes. There’s Bluetooth v5.3 paired with aptX and Snapdragon Sound and a Wi-Fi 6E as well.
Moving on, the processor has a stunning Qualcomm Spectra triple ISP that supports a max of up to 200MP for photo capture. There’s up to 4K HDR video recording capability. There’s a 10-bit HEIC photo and HEVC video recording as well.
According to the specs sheet, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 gets up to 30% better performance, camera deep learning face detect (DLFD) a 3rd-gen Qualcomm Sensing Hub, among others thanks to its AI Engine. There’s a vault-like security suite onboard SD 7 Gen 1 thanks to Android Ready SE and Trust Management Engine.
The first devices powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 are expected to arrive in a few week’s time from the day of its launch. The Oppo Reno8 Pro is expected to arrive on May 23 powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 among other devices.
