HTC 10 announced: All that you need to know

HTC has officially announced its latest flagship smart phone for the year 2016. The HTC 10 follows the design of its predecessor, the M9. HTC has stated that it spent almost a year designing the phone and feedback from its customers was implemented too.

HTC M9 failed to impress due to its poor camera quality and questionable battery life. The company is now looking to make a comeback with its new flagship. Without further delay, here are the phone’s specifications:

The phone itself has everything you can expect from a flagship Android phone, a 5.2-inch display and quad HD Super LCD 5 display that HTC promises displays 30% more color and 50% more response to touch than the previous model. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM and a 3,000mAh battery powers the phone with Quick Charge 3.0 support and a USB Type-C port included.

The home button is also the location for the fingerprint scanner. HTC boasts that the scanner will be able to recognize your finger from almost any angle.

Speaking for the camera, HTC has included a 12MP UltraPixel 2 camera sensor including laser autofocus, a 1.55µm pixel size, OIS (optical image stabilization), and an f/1.8 aperture. HTC promises that the camera app launch speed will be as low 0.6 seconds. The phone also offers a great 5MP UltraSelfie camera in the front.

For the audio, the phone comes with a headphone amp that will deliver two times the power of a conventional headphone amp. The HTC 10 comes with re-engineered BoomSound Hi-Fi edition speakers for the avid music listeners. The speaker above the display is just your average speaker while the second speaker located next to the charging port acts as the subwoofer providing richer sound experience overall.

HTC 10 comes pre-loaded with Android M (Marshmallow) and HTC Sense as the skin. HTC has also reduced bloatware (pre-loaded applications) so the software itself will be occupying a much lesser space. One of the features of the software that stands out is the new Freestyle Layout mode. Once active, you will have the freedom to rearrange your app grid and even add stickers that make your app menu experience even more fun.

With Doze already loaded with Marshmallow, HTC has also taken steps to reduce power-consumption on its side. The Boost+ app is sure to help make your phone faster, consume less power and provide additional app management features. There is also a smart boost functionality that optimizes the device’s memory and also a game battery booster that, as the name suggests, reduces battery consumption while gaming. There is also no need to install third-party app locking apps from the Play Store as Boost+ also comes with an app-locking functionality.

The HTC 10 will be available in two different variants having different Snapdragon processors. The company, however, has stated that the two variants will come with the same audio, camera, battery life, software and display.

The phone itself will be releasing in stores sometime in April with the color options listed as Carbon Grey, Glacier Silver and Topaz Gold.
