  • OPPO Reno14 Sun & Moonlight edition features a heat-sensitive back that shifts between silver and orange based on the surrounding temperature.

OPPO has officially launched a new version of its Reno14 smartphone in China, OPPO Reno14 Sun & Moonlight edition. What makes this special edition stand out is its unique, temperature-sensitive, color-shifting back panel. This is a first for the Reno series, as the back of the phone will dynamically change its color based on changes in the surrounding temperature. For example, it might appear silver in colder conditions and shift to an orange hue when it gets warmer.

A unique color-changing design

The main feature of the OPPO Reno14 Sun & Moonlight edition is its color-changing back, which shifts from Moonlight Silver to Sunlight Orange. OPPO says it uses a special material that reacts to temperature, changing color based on how warm or cool the surroundings are.

  • At low temperatures (around -15 °C), the device takes on a bright orange hue.
  • At higher temperatures (above 70 °C), the color shifts back to silver.

As the colors changes, users may see both shades at the same time, creating a dynamic and artistic effect. Unlike older phones with electrochromic backs, this feature works on its own and responds to the environment without needing any user control.
