According to the recent leaks, Xiaomi is going to announce an affordable smartphone on May 10 in China. The smartphone is believed to be known as Redmi S2. But now it seems like the brand might introduce another budget smartphone alongside. This leak is appearing on a popular benchmarking website Geekbench.

Spotted by GizChina, a new device has been surfaced with a codename “Valentino”. The benchmarking test revealed one of the key aspects of the upcoming device. Xiaomi Valentino is powered by a yet-to-be-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 648 SoC. The processor is clocked at the base frequency of 1.44GHz and it has eight cores. This upcoming processor is an improved version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 636.

This isn’t the first time Xiaomi will introduce a new processor in the market. Redmi Note 5 Pro was the first smartphone to come with the mid-range Snapdragon 636 SoC. It seems like Valentino will follow the same footsteps. This unknown smartphone will boast up to 6GB of RAM and runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

Xiaomi Valentino scored around 1,485 points in single-core tests and 5,440 in the multi-core tests. That’s all we know about this smartphone yet. Since the launch is right around the corner, we are expecting more leaks on Xiaomi Valentino

Rumors hints that the device will sport a 5.99-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 1440×720 pixels resolution. It is more likely to be powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage. There are two more variants – 32GB + 3GB RAM, and 64GB storage with 4GB RAM. It will come with a vertical dual cam setup at the back having a 12-MP sensor with AI and a 5-MP secondary camera. There are a 16-MP front selfie snapper and a 3,080mAh battery. There are no words on pricing yet but we believe it will fall under CNY 1,000 (roughly Rs. 10,600).
