  • Next-gen OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra is likely in the works as a waterproof fan-cooled smartphone.
  • It is the same tech as Oppo's K13 Turbo series debuting on July 21.
  • Even with a fan inside, Oppo mentions it has been able to increase the efficiency, power, and performance of the device it helms and we could see the same in upcoming OnePlus as well.

Oppo K13 Turbo Series is launching on July 21st with a standout feature as a waterproof fan-cooled smartphone. Turns out, OnePlus is prepping itself for something similar for the next-gen OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra, due for its debut sometime in the second quarter of next year. Here’s what we know about the upcoming smartphone.

OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra will be it’s first waterproof fan-cooled smartphone

OnePlus is reportedly working on a fan-cooled feature for the upcoming Ace 6 Ultra. It might be called the OnePlus Ace 6 Extreme Edition. However, what caught our attention was the borrowing of features that would make the Ace 6 Ultra a delight for gamers. It is equipped with a full functional fan for air intake that Oppo calls ‘True Wind Tunnel’. Its job is to speed up the fan for heat dissipation, allowing the users to keep up with the performance needs for AAA games such as PUBG, COD, etc.

A previous report by GSMArena mentions Oppo’s fan design is able to increase cooling efficiency by 300% compared to traditional fans. Moreover, it takes 70% less space and produces 120% more power. This translates into smooth, high frame rate when gaming, curbing any impending throttling issues that tend to ruin the gaming experience for many.

Just as K13 Turbo, Ace 6 Ultra will have an IP68/69 rating even though there’s a physical moving fan affixed under the hood.

OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra made its debut in May last year. It kind of puts the Chinese smartphone maker in frame for the next launch, due in May or as early as April next year. Apart from being a waterproof fan-cooled smartphone, we will see some top-of-the-line specs on the Ace 6 Ultra, although it might be limited to China only.

Perhaps what’s interesting is the fact that other smartphone makers are trying their hand at built-in fans as well. RedMagic from Nubia already has it, and we could see Xiaomi drop something similar soon. It’s just a matter of a few months before we start seeing this tech pop up in the market.
