Here’s the tee!

New Xiaomi 17 series model surfaces in leak

Well-known Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) shared details on Weibo about an upcoming Xiaomi flagship that will reportedly carry the Xiaomi 17 series branding. Although the device does not yet have an official name, it is said to be positioned between the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

According to the tipster, as cited by Gizmochina, the smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Other key details include a large flat display measuring between 6.8 and 6.9-inch, ultra-narrow bezels, and a periscope telephoto camera. Beyond these specifications, no additional hardware details have been revealed so far.

Xiaomi has not explained why it plans to introduce another flagship model that appears similar to existing devices in the series. However, the move may reflect the company’s strategy of offering multiple premium options that cater to slightly different performance and pricing tiers.

This unreleased model could act as a refined alternative to the Pro Max or a slightly toned-down version of the Ultra, giving buyers more choice without a significant compromise on flagship features.

Unreleased Xiaomi 17 series phone specs at a glance

Unfortunately, we have just a few bits of information on the upcoming phone. DCS mentions the specs as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, periscope lens, and a display ranging between 6.8” and 6.9-inch.

Both the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and Xiaomi 17 Ultra both feature a 6.9-inch AMOLED display and are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra builds on this setup by upgrading the periscope camera to a 200MP sensor with OIS and adding a ToF 3D sensor for depth sensing.

Battery configurations also differ. The Pro Max packs a larger 7,500mAh silicon-carbon lithium-ion battery with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The Ultra, on the other hand, features a 6,800mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W wired and 22.5W wireless charging.

Global launch timeline

Xiaomi is expected to launch the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra in global markets by March 2026, while other models in the series are currently limited to China or awaiting additional certifications.
