After a year of it being announced at the Google I/O 2016, the Google DayDream View VR headset finally manages to land in India. In an official mail from Google Store (Indian version), the Mountain-view based company acquaints us with the official availability of the headset, as well as the price it is made available at – Rs. 6,499. Not summited to that, a few exclusive offers have also been highlighted.

The DayDream View is available with several offers as mentioned above. For starters, a Rs.300 discount is issued on Flipkart to the users who pay through PhonePe’s UPI or Axis Bank Buzz Credit Cards. Following that, the first 50 buyers are provided with a Rs. 500 worth Google Play credits, a pretty benevolent move from Google. What’s more, the first 30 customers get a Chromecast totally free.

The DayDream View VR headset was made keeping in mind the user experience and comfort a basic VR headset should engender, while the Google Cardboard (its predecessor) limited itself to the bare minimum of a virtual reality experience. Thus, DayDream View will also come with a remote control, powered by Bluetooth. That being said, the DayDream VR functions along the lines of GearVR (which is a proprietary offering from Samsung) and will support a small community of phones including Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, and the Moto Z. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will soon make it to the compatible phones list.

Offering comfort and a lightweight feel, the Google DayDream VR is a perfect example of what Google envisions as a basic yet adequate VR experience. It allows users to dive into a virtual world and enjoy watching 360-degree videos, 3D VR games, real-world experiences and a lot more.
