- Samsung Galaxy S26 series is inching closer to launch and just now, we learnt that it has satellite connectivity feature.
- Partnered with Skylo, Galaxy S26 series phones will now let users texts and call when there's no cellular network range.
- Sought to arrive on Snapdragon variants, the feature could be limited to the US although we need to find out more about it.
All three models under the Samsung Galaxy S26 series gain satellite connectivity. Certifications passed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) add gravitas to the same. This gives Galaxy S26 devices the capabilities to text and call over satellites in the event of no coverage from mainstream telecom providers. Let’s check out more details about the latest update.
Got lost? Samsung Galaxy S26 satellite connectivity will let you make calls or send texts
The next-gen Samsung Galaxy S26 series is heading for its big unveiling early next month. There have been countless rumors around the series, including the latest one about satellite connectivity.
Apparently, the US variants of the Galaxy S26 series received FCC certification, further supporting the news above. Galaxy S26 (ID: A3LSMS942U), Galaxy S26+ (ID: A3LSMS947U), and Galaxy S26 Ultra (ID: A3LSMS948U) have made it on the FCC database, concretizing the fact that these phones have satellite connectivity. The database also points out that all of these certifications are for phones running the Snapdragon 7 Elite Gen 5 SoC, which is basically the US, unless Samsung decides to roll out Snapdragon variants elsewhere.
Circling back to the Samsung Galaxy S26 series satellite connectivity, the devices support Supplemental Coverage from Space (SCS) and Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) that collectively work in order to weave satellite connectivity to the users in case there’s no traditional cellular network available.
As SamMobile points out, Samsung has partnered with Skylo, a leading NTN service provider, to enable satellite calling and messaging functionalities. This is the same NTN provider that Google has contracted for its Pixel series, which has satellite connectivity as well. Apart from Google, Cupertino-based Apple has been offering satellite connectivity starting with the iPhone 14 and later.

In any case, it remains to be seen if the feature is available outside the US. This is because the Snapdragon AP is usually sold in the US, while other markets get their hands on the Exynos version, and the feature is still a novelty, giving it much ground to cover before it is available elsewhere.
