It took Apple half a decade to launch AirPods Max 2, the successor to AirPods Max that were first launched in 2020. The premium over-ear headphones still retain a similar design language; however, Apple has roped in major specs upgrades, including the H2 chipset and several audio features that we are going to cover here.

Six years later, Apple launches AirPods Max 2 with H2 chip

Apple announced the AirPods Max 2, a cutting-edge over-ear headphone with better Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capabilities. With an H2 chipset under the hood, the headphones are capable of features such as Live Translation, Voice Isolation, Conversation Awareness, and Adaptive Audio.

The Cupertino-based giant quotes the H2 chipset on-board AirPods Max 2 has improved its ANC effectiveness by up to 1.5x, bringing about a stunning user and listening experience. This is compared to the 2020 AirPods Max.

Further, the AirPods Max 2 brings a new digital signal processing algorithm that has been optimized on the H2 for better impact. The high dynamic range ensures users are listening to cleaner audio. There’s support for high–dynamic range amplifiers that make audio cleaner. Reduced wireless latency is another jewel in the crown, making AirPods Max 2 a bliss whether you are playing on macOS, iPadOS, or iOS.

Talking about the features, we have Adaptive Audio, which is the same as predecessors – dynamically switches between transparency and ANC modes. There’s Live Translation that takes advantage of Apple Intelligence to translate multiple languages in person. We also have the ability to record audio in studio quality with the Max 2. Siri has been integrated into the AirPods Max 2, which you can respond to with gestures as well.
