We just caught a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide in the wild. Turns out Samsung is gearing up for two book-style foldable phones in July, and we got live images caught in the wild for the wide version.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide being tested ahead of launch

Tipster Ice Universe posted dummy photos of two Galaxy Z Fold8 phones. The one that looks wider is actually the Galaxy Z Fold8, while the one that looks narrower (aka similar to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7) is reportedly being renamed the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

South Korea’s DC Insider community forum posted photos of the Galaxy Z Fold8 caught in the wild. Albeit blurry, the photos show a book-style Samsung phone with a much broader form factor. It is not a secret that Samsung is working on a wider Galaxy Z Fold8, and this phone caught in the wild could be exactly that, to begin with. The phone appears to be housed in an anti-leak protective case, for obvious reasons. It does reveal a dual-camera setup at the back while obscuring all other features.

The phone was earlier known as the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide, which is apt for the form factor; however, Samsung decided to give it cleaner branding while changing the nomenclature on the successor, the Galaxy Z Fold8, to “Ultra.” It remains to be seen if we are on the right path in terms of leaks, though.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 (Wide) is reportedly bringing a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC just like its Ultra sibling. We have 12GB of RAM, at least 256GB of storage, and a hefty 4,800mAh dual-cell battery. The phone is likely to share a spec sheet with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which means there are two 10MP front snappers, a 200MP primary cam with OIS, and a 50MP ultrawide camera on board. Again, this goes in line with the dual-camera setup spotted on the live images for the wider variant.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 launch date

Samsung is launching two book-style foldable phones in July 2026, i.e., the Galaxy Z Fold8 (earlier known as Fold8 Wide) and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (earlier named as a regular Z Fold8). There’s also a clamshell-style phone, aka the Galaxy Z Flip8, in the roster as well. As of now, we don’t have the release dates; however, stay tuned here on True-Tech to get glimpses of the phones launching soon.
