- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 series is coming in July this year.
- Turns out Samsung will stick to Snapdragon SoCs for Fold8 while the Z Flip8 picks up Exynos and Snapdragon options based on regions.
- This is necessary to control rising cost of components amid ongoing global situation that gives Samsung an advantage to push Exynos to a wider degree.
We are noticing a gradual shift in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 chipset strategy as per the latest update. Citing Samsung source code, the tipster confirms Samsung is working on a split chipset strategy for the Z Flip8, while the expensive Fold8 will continue to get Snapdragon-only chipsets. Here’s more about it.
Samsung began the transition with the Z Flip7 series
Samsung switched gears on the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE by integrating the Exynos 2500 SoC. For the unversed, it has always used Snapdragon chipsets on the Flip series alongside Folds, making the 2025 Flip series the first to host an Exynos chipset.
Galaxy Z Flip8 may get both Exynos and Snapdragon variants
Cut to now; the strategy seems to be working for Samsung, where it has been heavily anticipated that the South Korean giant will use the Exynos 2600 on the Flip8 series. This means both the Galaxy Z Flip8 and Z Flip8 FE will see the Exynos 2600 SoC, which is ultimately fabricated on a 2nm node.
This was uncovered by tipster Erencan Yilmaz via X. According to him, Samsung will continue to use Exynos on the Flip8 series, but there will be a Snapdragon version too, for some regions. This is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, which means it won’t surprise us anyway.
Galaxy Z Fold8 expected to remain Snapdragon-exclusive
Samsung will continue to use the Snapdragon SoC (most probably Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5) on the Fold8, which is a book-style flagship foldable device. In fact, there’s only a Snapdragon variant on this model, although the tech giant is exploring an Exynos angle as well.
Since we are still a few weeks away from the launch, Samsung has time to figure out the right combination of chipsets that will help it pick up sales post-launch. Note that there’s also a Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide in the works, and this model, too, will pick up the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy.

Supply chain issues could push Samsung further toward Exynos
There’s uncertainty in the chipset industry given the shortage of materials, rising component prices, and the ongoing regional disputes clogging supply chains across the globe. Should Samsung pick up Exynos to power all of the Flip8 series and some of the Fold8 series, this is plausible, as Samsung develops and manufactures these chipsets in-house, and thus, it has superior control over them compared to picking up a Snapdragon or Dimensity chipset.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 launch timeline
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 series are heading for launch sometime in July 2026. This is the optimal launch window for Samsung’s foldable devices, citing that all previous launches have been happening around the same dates.
