MIX is a brand that will set a stage for Xioami in the international markets. The original Mi MIX was one of the first smartphones to sport a near bezel-less display and was much appreciated. The second generation smartphone under the MIX series was announced in China yesterday and it takes the series to the next level.
The highlight of the Mi MIX 2 is its massive display that now has an even thinner bezel at the bottom. The chin has been reduced by 12 percent, to be precise. The display is a tad smaller at 5.99 inches and it now comes with the trending 18:9 aspect ratio. The selfie camera sits on the bottom bezel while the speaker and proximity sensor are said to be hidden.
There is a 12MP camera on the back that has a Sony IMX386 sensor, 1.25μm pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, and can record videos in 4K. The company has included a 4-axis OIS system for stable shots and videos. The front camera is of 5MP and it also supports facial recognition. The battery capacity of the phone is 3400mAh and it has a USB Type-C port for charging.
A noteworthy thing about the phone is that it doesn’t include a headphone jack. The inclusion of Bluetooth 5.0 might compensate for that up to an extent. The fingerprint scanner sits on the back of the phone. The Mi MIX 2 is designed by Philippe Starck, who also designed its predecessor, and there is a profound use of ceramic throughout the phone.
Processing on this phone is handled by the Snapdragon 835 processor that is aided by 6GB of RAM on the standard version. Along with that, the standard version will come with an option of 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage. There is a special edition of the Mi MIX 2 as well that offers 8GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. The phone runs Android 7.1.1 with MIUI 9.
