TECNO is geared up to unveil the POVA 8 Pro 5G in India on August 18, 2026. The TECNO POVA 8 Pro India launch will add a newer model to the company’s POVA series. The Pro model comes almost two months after its standard model, the POVA 8, launched in June.
The POVA 8 Pro has already hit the shelves in global markets, which offered a clearer picture of its design and technical specifications ahead of its arrival in India. Considering the same, TECNO highlighted the Alive Matrix Display, a mini LED system built into the rear panel, as its most attractive feature.
Alive Matrix Display is the POVA 8 Pro’s standout feature
According to TECNO, the Alive Matrix Display is a mini LED system that’s integrated into the rear panel. It uses 177 individually controlled LED beads and supports more than 49 scenarios. The mini LED system can be used for incoming calls, messages, gaming, and file transfer alerts and notifications.
Moreover, the display will show different patterns and effects, which would also give the phone’s rear side a practical use even when the phone is facing the front side.
More interestingly, the company has combined the lighting system with what it describes as an “interstellar spaceship” design. Notably, the triangular camera layout is put along with the illuminated area, which gives the POVA 8 Pro 5G a look that makes it different from other smartphone designs.

While TECNO has not officially revealed the specifications for the Indian model. It’s still unknown if the model will carry similar specifications to the global variant. The TECNO POVA 8 Pro boasts a 6.78-inch 1.5K HyperLux AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel carries a 2644 x 1208 resolution, 4500 nits of peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection for further durability.
Processor
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G mobile platform and also incorporates an additional TECNO P1 graphics chip. Using the combination of SoC and graphics chip, the company claims support for gaming at up to 144Hz for select games.
Camera
In the camera section, the phone brings a 50MP Sony LYTIA-700C sensor with OIS support. It is supported by an 8MP ultra-wide lens. While on the front side, it offers a 13MP selfie camera.
Battery & charging
The POVA 8 Pro packs a 6500mAh battery with 45W wired charging support. TECNO claims the battery can retain about 80% of its capacity after 2,000 complete charge cycles. However, there could be a difference in the lab-tested products and real-life scenarios because it varies on usage, charging habits, and other conditions.
Price and availability
TECNO has not revealed the India price, RAM and storage configurations, or availability for the POVA 8 Pro 5G.
Anyway, for context, the standard POVA 8 5G comes at a starting price of ₹29,999. So, the POVA 8 Pro 5G would sit somewhat expensively compared to its predecessor.
Talking about its regional availability, the TECNO POVA series (including the POVA 7 series) is exclusively available on Flipkart and offline retail partners. Hence, the POVA 8 series is also expected to be sold on Flipkart.
