Launched under the Android One program, the Mi A1 is a device that promises a better software experience. But the company seems to have failed on that aspect of the phone itself. Xiaomi had released the official Android Oreo update for the phone last year, but it has since been suspended two times for checking on the remaining bugs.

Xiaomi had resumed the Android Oreo roll-out for the Mi A1 quite recently and it has been pulled down once again. Reason for this are the bugs that the company is yet to fix, while the recently released update also included the fix to a host of bugs that appeared earlier. January security patch was also released alongside.

At the launch of the Mi A1, the company had assured that the Android Oreo update for its first Android One phone would be released by the end of 2017. To keep that promise, the company released a buggy Oreo update on the very last day of the year. This blunder happened even though the update had been through open beta versions.

It was announced on the official Xiaomi forum by a moderator about the suspension of the roll-out. No detail has been shared about the bugs but users who could get the update have been reporting about several issues on the forum. These incidents would definitely put the company in a bad light for how it managed the software delivery for its first phone under the Android One program.

Amidst all this, we are also probably talking about the successor to the Mi A1. The Mi A1 is a variant of the Mi 5X that has announced in China running the company’s own MIUI. Mi 6X is the possible successor to the 5X and it could also end up being the Mi A2.
