Google & Huawei are currently in a final phase of the settlement against a class-action lawsuit filed against the two bigwigs against the affected Huawei Nexus 6P users where the owner could get reimbursements of up to $400 if won.
According to the documents related to the lawsuit, many Huawei Nexus 6P users encountered a number of problems with their smartphones such as their devices would often stick in bootloops where it wouldn’t boot and a factory reset wasn’t an option either. Other causes that affected users were plenty of battery issues where users found out their devices would shut down even with a fully charged battery and more.
The settlement between the class action lawsuit and primarily Google which contracted Huawei to design and manufacture its Nexus lineup is expected to face a settlement amount of $9.75 million that both the companies would have to pay against the lawsuit that was filed back in April 2017. This would allow everyone who purchased Nexus 6P units which issues properly documented to receive a compensation of $400 while those who faced issues, however, don’t have any documentation against it would receive compensation between $10 to $75 per head.
Google offers Pixel XL as an exchange program against affected Nexus 6P units which means it managed to swipe off many potential participants that could have been a part of this class-action lawsuit. Back in 2017, folks at XDA Developers found out an official fix to get rid of the bootloop problem on Nexus 6P units as well. Anyhow, if you bought a Nexus 6P with any of these issues, watch out for a mail or letter that Huawei or Google could send in order to claim the settlement amount.
