In 2017, HMD Global tapped the nostalgia factor with the launch of Nokia 3310. While the phone garnered a lot of attention, it was stuck with 2G network only, not even 3G was made available. The company was expected for long to launch the 4G variant of the phone and it seems now they have. The Nokia 3310 4G has been silently announced by HMD Global in China.
HMD Global didn’t make any announcement of the phone but the handset was found listed on Nokia China website. The phone will be available in China starting February and we expect it to debut in other markets sooner than later. March seems to be a feasible time for its launch, including in India. Nokia might spill some beans regarding the phone’s availability in the near future.
With the availability of 4G LTE, VoLTE functionality also comes onboard the Nokia 3310 4G. Along with it, the phone supports Wi-Fi hotspot and runs Android-based YunOS from Alibaba. It is a single-SIM phone and that aspect could change with the market it is made available in. Bluetooth 4.0 and FM Radio features have also been included with this 4G variant of Nokia 3310.
The Nokia 3310 4G has a 2.4-inch display with 320 x 240 pixels resolution and has an internal storage of 512MB. That low storage can be expanded via microSD card up to 64GB. It has a 1200mAh battery capacity that, according to the company, can last for 12 days on standby. The rear camera is of 2MP and has an LED flash.
Nokia was first expected to launch the phone at MWC 2018 along with a lot of other phones. That might still be happening but for the global audience. Nokia recently launched the 2018 variant of the Nokia 6, which the company debuted with last year.
