We knew this coming for a long time now but it is now imminent now. OnePlus has officially ditched the 3.5mm audio jack for its upcoming handset i.e. OnePlus 6T speculated to launch sometime in October or November this year. This particular news was recently verified after OnePlus actually rolled out Bullets V2 USB Type-C version of the original Bullets V2 headphones launched in 2016 and as the name suggests, it has a USB Type-C dongle and not a 3.5mm audio jack.

According to the press release, the OnePlus Bullets V2 Type C will be available at a price tag of Rs 1,499 which is around Rs 300 more than what it’s predecessor with an audio jack costs or $19.99 if you happen to live in the United States where the two types of headphones are equally priced. Further, OnePlus has claimed that the move has come in order to ensure that there is a minimal loss of quality with a superior audio outcome that a USB Type-C Bullets V2 headphone could offer.

OnePlus which is a Chinese maker has included a series of features and elements such as an aramid fiber cable attached to the wire that will resist any stretching and tangling which is a concern in wired headphones and earphones of any type. Further, the aramid fiber adds a layer of durability. OnePlus has also included a professional DAC sourced from Cirrus Logic which gives the earphones its fluent and mesmerizing audio outcome with low noise floor, higher signal-to-noise ratio, and higher dynamic range which are few of its USPs compared to the audio jack version.

The original Bullets V2 earphones were launched in 2016 during the time when Apple ditched the audio jack by introducing its Apple iPhone 7 but OnePlus decided to retain it until the last release of OnePlus 6. Now that the incremental model of OnePlus 6 is around the corner touted to release in October/November this year, OnePlus has rendered it useless to include a 3.5mm audio jack because of several reasons.

Firstly, in an internal survey conducted by OnePlus, the number of people using in-ear headphones with an audio jack decreased drastically from 80 percent back in 2017 to almost 21 percent whilst the rest 59 percent of the OnePlus users have actually switched to wireless headsets.

Again, Carl Pei – OnePlus co-founder, stated in an interview with TechRadar that the jack won’t make it to the next handset release. He further added that the space acquired by removing the 3.5mm audio jack will thus be used for new technology such as improved battery life or another tech.

Recently, we got to confirm it officially that OnePlus 6T will have an In-display fingerprint scanner mounted under its front display that would increase the thickness of the phone by up to 0.45mm but there’s more that recently went live concerning the upcoming OnePlus 6T. A few days ago, a website called Giztop listed OnePlus 6T for Pre-orders stating that it is currently out of stock and will be available by October 16 which is the first hint towards it’s already speculated date of release that is October 17. Further, the listing proposes the price tag of $569 which goes in line with the $550 that sources have been quoting the OnePlus 6T for.

It will have the current top-end Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage bundled with Adreno 630 GPU and don’t forget a rear triple camera setup with a 25MP front sensor. Since this isn’t an official listing, we could regard it as an speculation or estimation until there isn’t a word from OnePlus.
