Xiaomi has two sub-brands – Mi and Redmi – to cater the different price segments of the market. Redmi was for the budget devices, while Mi branding was used for its premium smartphones. It seems that the Chinese smartphone maker is feeling the need to fill the gap between the two and launch new mid-range device under a new sub-brand.

Weibo has been a source of a number of leaks about the smartphones coming from China and a bunch of image of the Xiaomi 5X have also been leaked on the website. One of the images shows supposedly an advertisement banner for the Xiaomi 5X that gives a few details of the upcoming smartphone from the company. While the other one is a promo image of the phone that shows the phone from one of its side that houses its camera module.

As per the image, the phone will come with a 5.5-inch display that will have a resolution of 1080p. it will be powered by a Snapdragon 625 chipset and will have a RAM capacity of 4GB. Besides this, the phone will sport a dual-camera setup just like the high-end Mi 6 did, making the 5X the second Xiaomi device to sport the capability. The phone can be made official on July 26.

Separate reports have suggested that the Xiaomi 5X will have another higher-end variant that has even better specifications. A newer Snapdragon 660 processor is said to be included along with 6GB of RAM. The dual cameras on the back can be of 12MP while there will be a 16MP unit on the front. It is expected to run on the latest MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.1. The dual cameras on the phone have been visibly placed horizontally, like the OnePlus 5.

Xiaomi has been pretty aggressive in the Indian market by launching newer smartphones in the country soon after their first announcement in China. The Mi Max 2 was launched in May in China and it is coming to Indian tomorrow. The sub-20,000 priced smartphone is a successor to the last year’s big-screen Mi Max smartphone.

The Mi Max 2 comes with a large 6.44-inch full HD display and is powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor along with 4GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 7.0 based MIUI 8. We will be providing you with the latest news on the phone when it is launched tomorrow.
