Apple made a ton of announcements at its Surprise and Shine event on September 9. One of the products that saw the limelight was the all-new AirPods 5, aka fifth-generation earbuds. Available in two versions, the cheapest retails at $129 and offers access to active noise cancellation. It is already up for pre-order, with shipping commencing as early as September 18, along with the iPhone 18 Pro series.
AirPods 5 with ANC arrives at $129
After covering the iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo, we had to cover AirPods 5, as these are the next-gen TWS earbuds with cheaper price tags on board. First up, these buds are available in two versions, i.e., a regular USB-C case and a wireless charging case plus touch controls on the stem. Luckily, both of these versions are equipped with active noise cancellation (ANC).
In fact, the Cupertino-based giant claims it is the best use of active noise cancellation for an open-ear design, although we would like to see it as a claim rather than a real-time expectation.
According to Apple, AirPods 5 can cut up to 50% of external noise compared to the predecessor (possibly AirPods 4). There’s also a Transparency mode that keeps voices and surrounding sounds naturally coming through.
AirPods 5 is also big on AI thanks to Siri AI, making it as intelligent as ever. The Siri on-board AirPods can help users draft emails, photos, messages, and more, based on supported apps.
On the battery front, we have 5 hours of listening with ANC enabled, which is 20% better than previous AirPods 4. The wireless charging model gives users up to 22 hours of battery life that should help you stay away from chargers for days.

AirPods 5 with built-in ANC retails at $129 / EUR 149; the buds with wireless charging case and controls retail for $149 / EUR 169. The earbuds are ready for pre-order, with shipping commencing as early as September 18. In the UAE, the pricing without the case is AED 539, and AED 629 with the wireless case.
