- Apple could be working on an AirPods Ultra with cameras, as earlier referenced by popular tipsters.
- AirPods Ultra could bring an IR blaster on-board, with a strong inclination towards enhancing Siri's capabilities.
- These pods might not interfere with AirPods Pro 4 and rather, it could arrive as a standalone product this September.
Apple AirPods Ultra could get their hands on ‘cameras,’ if the latest rumors are true. The Cupertino-based giant is serious about the ’Ultra’ branding and seems to be slapping all its flagship products with it. The iPhone Fold could get rebranded as the ‘iPhone Ultra,’ and yes, there’s also a MacBook Ultra and AirPods Ultra in the works.
Get ready for AirPods Ultra with camera for enhanced AI capabilities
Earlier in February, we spotted a story around AirPods Pod 4 likely to ‘see around you.’ Although there’s speculation about whether it is about cameras or IR blasters, it seems the former is winning the race. Turns out Mark Gurman of Bloomberg is stressing on AirPods Ultra bringing ‘cameras to be used by Siri.’ It remains to be seen what Gurman meant with it, possibly a hint to Siri’s ability to see using the physical cameras on board, just as how Gemini can use the phone’s camera to deliver information in real-time and with visual intelligence.
I don’t believe the AirPods will have hand gestures either. The cameras are for Siri. Regarding the Vision Pro wind down – they killed the cheaper/lighter overhaul and the thing is on ice till they figure out its future. It’s not completely dead. https://t.co/fKA8mBJKBi

AirPods Ultra is coming soon. It isn’t the first time we have learned about it anyway. Apple could be leveraging Siri, powered by Gemini, to deliver visual intelligence. It remains to be seen if AirPods Ultra will carry actual cameras (which I highly doubt) or whether they stick to dot projectors akin to Face ID, i.e., something that only machines can understand.
AI has become a big thing on Apple devices. The latest collaboration between Siri and Gemini is a testament to that. AirPods Ultra are just another product carrying that AI legacy ahead. It is also clear how Apple is banking on the AI-fied technology sector, bringing the tech to all its devices. It is noted that AirPods Ultra could simply be a third flagship model in the AirPods 4 series and may not replace the upcoming AirPods Pro 4.
Keep up with the tech that actually matters.

According to a previous report (via MacRumors) by Ming-Chi Kuo, upcoming AirPods will bring in-air gesture control, although Gurman says otherwise. In any case, the AirPods Ultra release is speculated to happen in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series, iPhone Ultra, and the aforementioned ‘MacBook Ultra’ with OLED and touch capabilities to follow soon.
