The UL Demko certification has revealed the details of the upcoming Pixel device. It makes us conclude that Google could be sitting up its ladder for the Pixel Series. The launches starring the Google Pixel 8a, Google Pixel 9 series, and Google Pixel Fold 2 are anticipated to arrive this year. We have been fortunate enough to hear a lot about the trio. Now, the latest comes from the UL Demko certification website, which cleared a Google smartphone with a big 4,942mAh battery. Let’s find out more information about it.

UL Demko certification details for the upcoming Google Smartphone

The UL Demko certification website details an unnamed Google smartphone bearing model number GH2MB. The certification makes the smartphones compliant with all safety standards as required in Denmark (and potentially signals their arrival in other markets).

The listing confirms a battery pack rated at 4,942 mAh that Google will market as a 5,000 mAh or 5,040 mAh battery. However, the listing doesn’t mention names, keeping it open for interpretation.

According to what we know so far, the Pixel 7a arrived with a 4,385 mAh battery. If the listing mentioned above is for the upcoming Pixel 8a, we could get an 11.27% larger battery pack at 4,942 mAh. When compared with the Pixel 6a, we saw a minuscule decline in the battery pack, making a huge 11.27% increase far stretched. Pixel 8a is slated to arrive in May at Google I/O 2024, just like last year’s Pixel 7a at Google I/O 2023.

Could it be Google Pixel Fold 2?

The most probable candidate is the second-gen Google Pixel Fold 2. Last year, we saw the Pixel Fold make its debut with a 4,821mAh battery. If we take its battery pack and the upcoming Pixel Fold 2, a 2.5% increase to 4,942 mAh makes it quite reasonable. It remains to be seen if that’s the case.

We compared it with the Pixel 8 series and Pixel 9 series, as the latter is scheduled to arrive in October this year. For instance, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro arrived with 4,575 mAh and 5,050 mAh batteries, respectively. If you compare the batteries on the Pixel 8 series with the upcoming Pixel 9 series, it means a 4,942mAh battery pack signals an 8% hike and a decline of 2.1% in the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, respectively.

All in all, we are hoping the recently leaked out 4,942mAh battery is for the Google Pixel Fold 2, touted to arrive this May. Moreover, it will be powered by the Google Tensor G4 SoC that we saw making its appearance on Geekbench v5 recently.
