Huawei Mate 40 series is incoming. Last month, we stumbled upon a report that implied that the upcoming Mate 40 series will be powered by a 5nm Kirin 1000 chipset. Later, an expert confirmed the manufacturing node that Kirin 1000 SoC will be used i.e. 5nm.
A Chinese chipset who goes by the username mobile phone chipset who stated that even after the US has imposed several restrictions on Huawei in May, the Huawei Mate 40 series will arrive with a Kirin 1000 5nm chipset. He even added a forecast for the fourth quarter when the series is expected to launch that Huawei will ship almost eight million units by the end of this year. Moreover, he added that everything is going as per plan.
A previous report stated that Huawei Mate 40 series will arrive with Kirin 1020 SoC, however, the latest report hint that the lineup will get Kirin 1000 SoC that Chinese bigshot chip manufacturer TSMC will manufacture it on a 5nm node.
We aren’t aware of the specifics about the upcoming successor to Kirin 990 SoC although it is expected to arrive with a Cortex-A78 CPU that is codenamed as “Baltimore”.
Kirin 990 5G SoC made its debut in September last year and the upcoming Kirin 1000 SoC is expected to launch the same time around as well. With that being said, Huawei Mate 40 series is expected in October this year, same as last year’s Mate 30 series launch. Kirin 1000 SoC will make it to next year’s Huawei P50 series earlier next year as well.
