The OnePlus 9 series is incoming and it is huge, to be honest. OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu made an official announcement confirming that the OnePlus 9 series will arrive with 2 years of warranty instead of 1 year. Liu mentioned that this move will surely offend the smartphone industry where the most an OEM offers is a one-year warranty plus additional coverage and charging for the same.

According to the survey data collected and analyzed by OnePlus, the average replacement cycle of its flagship phones is two years. With the premium and flagship cadre of smartphones, it only becomes logical to offer two years of official warranty service to complement it. This means a user’s device is covered for all the period from the date of purchase till the replacement cycle is kicked off.

As Liu puts it, the change in warranty policies would surely offend other big and small players in the smartphone industry. Even Apple and Samsung hand over a year’s worth of warranty plus it can be further extended but at a premium. On the contrary, OnePlus will pack in a two-year warranty with its upcoming OnePlus devices out-of-the-box.

OnePlus will unveil the much-anticipated OnePlus 9 series in partnership with Hasselblad on March 23 at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center at 14:00. Watch out for the event as we will be covering it here on True-Tech.
