  • Apple is reportedly planning to launch M4 MacBook Pro devices in Q4 2024.
  • It will showcase a 14-inch M4 version followed by a M4 Pro 14-inch and M4 Max 16-inch MacBook Pro.
  • We could see a refreshed line-up of Macs and Mac Mini this year as well.

Waiting to cash in a new MacBook Pro? You must wait a few months as we will get our hands on the M4-powered MacBook Pro towards the fourth quarter of 2024. This information is coming from display analyst Ross Young whose reputation precedes him. Ross tweeted about the same to his subscribers (yes, it is not available for regular users), according to which, the panel shipments for 14” and 16” MacBook Pro are set to begin in 3rd quarter of 2024 followed by launch later this year.

For the unaware, this is the same timeline that M3-powered MacBook Pro followed last year which means it could hold gravitas.

2024 would see refreshed M4 MacBook Pro & a lot of other Macs too

Apple began re-energizing its Mac lineup with the iPad Pro M4 in May 2024. Soon, the first line-up of Macs powered by M4 chips is slated for launch later this year. We would see a refreshed MacBook Pro and Mac Mini debut this year as well which tends to create an anticipatory lineup ahead.

According to MacRumors, an entry-level 14” MacBook Pro will be powered by an M4 chipset while 14” and 16” MacBook Pros will run performance to the edge with M4 Pro and M4 Max under their hoods, respectively. With that being said, the Mac mini will get both M4 and M4 Pro chip variants as well.

Cupertino giant Apple rolled out M4 earlier this year based on an upgraded 3nm node. Apple had the privilege to call many of its chipsets ‘the first’ such as the first 3nm M3 lineup and the first-ever 3nm Apple A17 Pro chipsets. Circling back to M4, it is approx 25% faster on multicore tests on Geekbench 6 when compared to M3 and certainly, we see similar performance boosts across the entire M4 line — including M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max. M4 is also 50% faster than M2 released two years ago.

There’s not much known about the M4 MacBook Pro as of now, although we expect it to have notable improvements over its predecessors at least in the performance sector since design would largely be the same. We could get an OLED MacBook Pro, although it might not release before 2026.
