However, rumors of a potential MacBook Air release have been circulating for some time, with several analysts and sources speculating on the matter. Young’s latest report, shared with his Twitter Super Follows, provides more details on the upcoming laptop.
15.5-inch MacBook Launch in April: Pricing, Specs and More
The highly anticipated 15.5-inch MacBook Air is set to debut this April, and although details are scarce at the moment, it’s expected to be a larger version of its predecessor, the 13-inch MacBook Air.
Rumours suggest that Apple may offer two screen sizes for the MacBook Air – 13.6 inches and 15.5 inches, following the discontinuation of the smaller 11-inch model. According to industry insiders, Apple initially planned to equip the MacBook Air 2022 with a 15-inch display, but ultimately opted for a 13.6-inch screen, slightly larger than its 2020 counterpart.
Tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also weighed in, revealing that the upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air may not even be called a “MacBook Air” but instead just a “MacBook”. He also stated that there will be M2 and M2 Pro variants available for the 15-inch model, while the 13-inch MacBook Air will have only the M2 chip.
In addition to the 15.5-inch MacBook Air, Apple is reportedly working on a new 12-inch MacBook design, which would be the company’s first 12-inch laptop since 2015. Although it’s unclear which product line this laptop would join, we’re excited to see what Apple has in store for us.
The current MacBook Pros already have a sleek new design with thinner bezels and a display notch. The MacBook Air had a significant facelift in 2022 to match, and we expect the 15-inch MacBook Air to follow suit. With its bigger display, we anticipate that the 15-inch MacBook Air will deliver a portable design with lower bezels, much like the 13.6-inch MacBook Air, which saw its display increase without expanding its overall footprint.
The MacBook Air has long been a fan favourite, and the 15.5-inch model is expected to be no different. Obviously, I recommend you to be skeptical of anything mentioned unofficially, but considering that the rumors and leaks are coming from people with good track histories, it wouldn’t be sage to discount their assertions.
Indeed 15-inch MacBook Air has my full attention, especially if it comes with an M2 Pro processor. I always love the larger screen display it would be great for editing, and especially for media consumption so it would be a dream come true laptop to have a 15-inch MacBook with an Air-style design that is light and thin, Finger Crossed.
