Xiaomi Mi 8 was a smash hit after it unveiled in April this year, with flagship specifications at a tightly bound cost-efficient price range. To extend it’s capability further, the concept for Xiaomi Mi 9 (2019) has appeared on the web posted by leakster Ben Geskin on Twitter. The concept gives a sneak peek into what we could expect from the successor to Mi 8 (2018) expected to launch something around Q1 2019.

Based on what Ben Geskin stated in the concept, the phone must feature a 6.47-inch AMOLED panel which by far is equivalent to OnePlus 6T’s 6.41-inch display. The phone will have an edge-to-edge display with tiny bezels and a new type of notch which isn’t regular iPhone X-like, neither Huawei’s slimmed-down version and not even a waterdrop-shaped but a rather unique and tiny notch hosting front cam and other sensor and an ultra-tiny speaker grille embedded to the top bezel which is almost indistinguishable.

As per other key specs, the phone is expected to roll out with a triple camera set up at the back similar to Huawei’s P20 Pro which has a dual-lens setup and a third lens placed below the vertically arrange assembly. Based on what Ben has pointed out, the device will have a 48MP Sony IMX586 main sensor along with 13MP and 16MP sensors probably a telephone and wide angle while the optics for front camera is still a mystery.

Well, since it will be launched around Q1 2019, it is safe to assume that it will host Snapdragon 8150 (SDM8150) octa-core processor coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM with the highest variant maxes at 10GB of RAM which ain’t a new thing for Xiaomi as it recently rolled out the Mi Mix 3 with 10GB RAM already. Apart from that, the phone will have an under-the-display fingerprint scanner and will feature Quick Charge 5.0 for faster wired charging and a glass back to facilitate wireless charging to it’s slightly smaller 3,700 mAh battery.

But that’s not all. Xiaomi Mi 9 will have 5G-enabled out-of-the-box which seems feasible citing it’s projected release date which is around April 2019 if the Chinese manufacturer follows it’s launch schedule similar to Mi 8. But there’s lot to discuss and since this is the first time a render for Xiaomi Mi 9 has appeared on the screen, we are still way ahead of its launch and you know, leaks have intensified over the years and in fact, I guess we will get to know much more about the upcoming Mi 9 in these coming days.
