Bid adieu to search for your favorite websites by URL or Google Search and welcome progressive web apps (PWA). Turns out that Google is adding a simplified method to integrate PWAs on Chrome. The feature is available across Google Chrome Canary and should arrive across the stable Chrome build in future versions.

According to the reports, a daily build version of Chrome Canary lets you install progressive web apps (PWA). It means you don’t have to search for your favorite or most-visited website either via URL or through Google Search. For instance, if you are an avid True-Tech or Wikipedia reader, you can install a PWA on Google Chrome that will open these websites into their respective app-like Chrome windows.
Google has made it easier to add PWA since all you have to do is visit the website of interest, tap on “Settings”, and go to “Save and Share >> Install page as app…” and there you have it. Once you are there, these PWAs feel like visiting native apps on your desktop.
Note that the feature isn’t available across the stable Google Chrome build yet. It is limited to Chrome Canary at the moment but will propagate to stable Chrome builds in coming updates. For Canary users, you need to enable these two flags by entering them in the URL bar.

chrome://flags/#shortcuts-not-apps
You need to check if the Google Canary version you are using is Chrome 124. If not, you need to update it. Talking about the stable Chrome build, it is currently at Chrome 122 with the Chrome 123 arriving soon. The Google Chrome v121 arrived with a tonne of AI features that you can read about.
