Nubia has kicked off 2025 by launching the Nubia Flip 2, its second-generation foldable phone, in Japan. Following the original Flip’s debut in April last year, this new iteration arrives earlier than expected but brings several key upgrades to improve user experience.

Nubia Flip 2 specifications

Probably, the most remarkable tweak in Nubia Flip 2 is its cover screen. The round display of the first generation is replaced by a more practical rectangular design. It features a 3-inch screen with a resolution of 422 × 682 pixels, which can be used for accessing notifications and frequently used apps without having to unfold the device.

Display and camera

The main display remains a 6.9-inch OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for a vibrant and smoother scrolling experience. On the back, Flip 2 has dual cameras, including a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor for background blur on portrait images.

For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 32MP front-facing camera hidden at the top of the inner display.

Performance and software

There’s also a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chipset, under the hood. In addition, it is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, it’s pretty efficient for daily operations. Of course, it’ll hardly touch flagship levels in terms of great performance.

Moreover, a 4,300mAh battery powers the Flip 2, with fast-charging capabilities that can fully recharge the device in just 55 minutes.

The device runs on Android 14 out of the box. However, Nubia has not disclosed its update policy, leaving some uncertainty about long-term software support.

Durability and security

The Flip 2 is designed to withstand everyday challenges with its IPX2 water resistance and IP4X dust resistance ratings. These features ensure the device can handle light splashes and dust exposure without issues.

For security, the phone includes both face recognition and fingerprint recognition, offering users convenient and secure unlocking options.
