Every year, around the warm months of April and May, we see the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi release a new device, one that directly takes up the responsibility as the flagship that every company has. The last two years have been pretty quiet for Xiaomi’s Mi lineup, both the Mi 5 and Mi 5S were crushed by the competition and weren’t really worthy to buy, that’s thanks to the OnePlus’ bash on sales with their new flagship killers.
This year, however, we’ve heard not too much about the upcoming flagship from Xiaomi, until now. A benchmark had surfaced over the internet not too long ago, and even though we only have a vague idea of how the smartphone will look like, here’re the internals, plus some, more broken down.
Talking about what possibly could be the only drawback, the display. It is rumored that the Mi 6 would be well-off with a 5.1″ 1080p display, but since this is the Apple of the East we’re talking about rumors surrounding the Plus model with a 5.7″ display might be more than just assumptions.
The internals seem to be running on the not-so-new-anymore Snapdragon 835, powered by a new Adreno 540, with over 6 Gigs of RAM to spare, and all this backed up by a comparatively tiny 3200 mAh battery. Talking about the storage options, most claim there to be a baseline 64 Gigabyte ROM, and a direct upgrade to a 128 Gigs of wonder-some storage.
The camera’s, at least as far as how we look at them, have always been a gimmicky addition to the Mi lineup of smartphones. Anyhow, Xiaomi might surprise us with a great 12 MP primary and an 8 MP front-facing shooter, both capable of 4K and 1080p recording respectively.
The other slightly leaked stuff include support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 and a few minor improvements for the Plus model. First, a bigger 4000 mAh battery, which would be gladly accepted, but to kind of pull it back down, it is also rumored to sport a beautiful Quad HD display, as opposed to the ‘only’ 1080p panel.
The pricing and availability have otherwise just been assumed to be starting at around CNY 2,200 for the timidest variant, and a good CNY 3,100 for the best Plus variant. What do you guys have to say about the leaked Xiaomi Mi 6? Will you be interested in putting down your money over a smartphone with mere improvements, or would you rather board the #HypeTrain and wait for the next OnePlus device?
