Highlights
  • iPhone 16 took a major leap in terms of units sold with over 4% of the market share in Q3 2025.
  • Apparently, iPhone 16e triumphs over iPhone 17 Pro Max, securing fourth place in the top-10 best-selling smartphones in the last quarter.
  • Both Apple and Samsung secured five models in the listicle, unfortunately, no flagship Galaxy phones showed up on the list.

Even with the best specs that virtually exist out there, iPhone 17 Pro Max sales volume was overshadowed by iPhone 16e, ranking at 4th in terms of units sold in Q3 2025. That’s what the numbers from analyst Counterpoint Research show, plotting the top ten best-selling smartphones during the last quarter, and believe it, Apple took five spots altogether.

iPhone 16 leads the list of best-selling smartphones in Q3 2025

To be specific, iPhone 16 led the market, scoring a whopping 4% in volume share in Q3 2025, maintaining the lead for the third consecutive quarter. This is because the phone got a huge sales boost in India and Japan, among others. The iPhone 16 Pro models scored the second and third positions, followed by the iPhone 16e in the fourth ranking. This is interesting given the fact that there’s only one iPhone 17 model, i.e., iPhone 17 Pro Max, which scored the tenth position.

Samsung’s A-series keeps its grip on mid-range and budget markets

Since Apple and Samsung usually go hand-in-hand in terms of units shipped, we saw a similar pattern in Q3 2025 stats as well. Samsung Galaxy A16 5G led the pack at the fifth position, while Galaxy A06, A36, A56, and A16 4G took their position from sixth through ninth rank on the list. Unfortunately, no leading flagship Galaxy phone made it to the list, even though we saw people flocking to get their hands on Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 series, especially the Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra.

Galaxy A16 5G took the lead, moving up a notch compared to Q3 last year. Galaxy A36 and A56 were leading the mid-segment, and partly because Samsung has been infusing AI features into its phones. Galaxy A16 4G and A06 were the budget phones in the top ten best-selling smartphones in Q3 2025, thanks to their continued shipments across MEA and Latin America.

Unfortunately, we don’t have specific figures, such as the number of units sold for each, based on the context discussed by Counterpoint. Stick to True-Tech as we bring more on smartphones and beyond for our readers.
