- Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy S26 series with an innovative 'privacy display' feature on-board the S26 Ultra.
- It seems Apple is interested in the tech as well and would bring the same across MacBook lineup in 2029.
- It remains to be seen if we have to wait till 2029 for the tech on Apple devices and whether iPhones will bring the feature as well.
It seems like Apple is readying itself to copy yet another feature from Samsung. The South Korean giant is unveiling ‘Privacy Display’ on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra next week, and it is a game-changing feature that uses a combination of hardware and software to bring about obscurity to the display when viewed from different angles, and MacBook’s lineup in 2029 could be the adopter.
Solving the snooping problem with ‘Privacy Display’
According to leaker Ice Universe, citing a report by Omdia (a market research firm), Apple is expected to bring Samsung’s latest privacy display technology to Apple MacBook laptops by 2029. Samsung will unveil a privacy technology to curb the usage of third-party or external privacy protectors. The tech uses a blend of Flex Magic Pixel OLED technology and AI in order to put obscurity on the display when viewed from any other angle except head-on.

The feature is meant to curb snoopers and prying eyes from sharing eyes on your screen. This will prevent them from reading your texts, seeing your images, using your financial apps, and any other personal or sensitive information that might put you in a spot. The Privacy Display feature is coming to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra with a toggle to turn it off or adjust its intensity and effectiveness based on user preferences.
Coming back to Apple, the Cupertino-based giant is likely to incorporate the tech on MacBooks starting in 2029. It means iPhones might not see the tech, and given the three-year head start that Samsung will get, Apple could be moving more slowly than expected. No doubt Apple has always been a slow adopter of tech, as it leaves a specific period until something matures, but a three-year gap is humongous. Samsung builds something, and Apple perfects it—the perfect recipe to set people on a debate on who did it better.
Of course, Apple has kept its mouth shut with no information on whether it is considering privacy features on iPhones or MacBooks as of now.
In any case, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is launching on February 25 at the grand Galaxy Unpacked event at 10 am PT (6 pm GMT).
