- Samsung could be tweaking the camera placement of its upcoming Galaxy S27 series.
- This is to accommodate the magnets required to make MagSafe-like feature to attach to accessories.
- However, given it's too early to comment on the Galaxy S27 lineup and rising RAM/storage costs, this could be pushed to 2028.
Two major stories are coming from the house of Samsung (via sources, though). Turns out the next-gen Samsung Galaxy S27 series will see a potential camera design overhaul and a Qi2 integration, as per a single source, at the time of writing this. Read along to know what is in it for you.
Samsung Galaxy S27 series might be compatible with MagSafe accessories (without the phone case)
According to a South Korean publication, Naver, citing Samsung’s supply chain, the tech juggernaut is working on a different camera placement. As of now, Samsung uses a similar left-aligned, vertically-stacked camera bump at the rear panel. Depending upon the model, the number of camera sensors may change, and there’s also the placement of flash and additional cameras that have often found themselves in a separate column.
However, the latest report suggests the Samsung Galaxy S27 camera setup could see a change at last. However, the source from the ‘related company’ didn’t delve into the new camera placement, which leaves a large hole in the story. I mean, think about it: Samsung could shift the rear camera assembly to anything from the upper-left or upper-mid or upper-right section; we’d not know until more information is available. It could be just a cosmetic refresh if the following doesn’t materialize.
It could be for Samsung Galaxy S27 MagSafe-style Qi2.2 integration
According to SamMobile, this move could be a sign that Samsung is finally bringing a MagSafe-style feature on-board. The current-gen Galaxy S26 series does support Qi2.2; however, it requires an additional phone case when it comes to pairing with accessories.
With internal magnets on-board, the Samsung Galaxy S27 series will be able to latch onto MagSafe accessories without needing additional cases. However, take it with a pinch of salt, as the source mentioned a clause stating “due to recent cost issues” (the tech upgrade might be put on hold). If that happens, we will get this feature only on the Galaxy S28 series coming in 2028. In any case, it is better to hold the horses and cross our fingers and wait for more information to arrive.
Keep up with the tech that actually matters.

The ongoing situation across the globe and the chip shortage have pushed RAM and storage prices spiraling out of control. It is certain that no smartphone maker is immune to the price shocks, although we have learned that Apple is readying itself to absorb costs to begin with for the iPhone 18 series. It remains to be seen if Samsung does the same. Watch out for this space to know more about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 series.
