The Vivo X500 series is launching in September, and it’s official (or at least half of it). It turns out Vivo has three smartphones under the X500 series in the pipeline—X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max—and we have some interesting information about the trio.
Vivo X500 Series camera specs teased
Han Boxiao, Vivo product manager, posted on Weibo revealing key details on the upcoming trio, especially around the cinema-grade video recording capabilities that will leave others gasping for air.
According to the post, X500 Pro models will feature a ZEISS Ultra Dynamic Main Camera built using a custom-made Phantom 900 sensor co-developed by Sony and Vivo’s Blueprint imaging team. Loosely, it means the sensor claims to offer a dynamic range of 17EV, plus 4K at 240fps slow-mo and 4K at 120fps HDR video recording capabilities. For comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a max dynamic range around 12-13EV, although the actual results may differ. We will have to wait until the Vivo X500 Pro/Pro Max drops by to assess the difference in terms of quality and output.
Going further, we have 3-degree optical image stabilization (OIS) on the Vivo X500 Pro Max camera specs. This will eventually help the phone capture sharper images, although we don’t have specs on the iPhone 17 Pro Max to compare.
The Vivo X500 series is set to succeed last year’s Vivo X300 series. This is also because Vivo has skipped the X400 series altogether, given Chinese customs of omens and numbers. The standard X500 is speculated to feature a Dimensity 9600 3nm SoC, while the Pro models will pick up Dimensity 9600 Pro 2nm SoCs.
Vivo X500 series specs at a glance
On the specs front, we have a 6.85” 2K LTPO OLED with HRR on the X500 Pro Max. The camera specs include a 50MP Sony LYT910 SoC, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens.
The Vivo X500 Pro features a 6.37” 1.5K LTPO OLED panel, powered by the Dimensity 9600 Pro SoC, with 50MP+50MP+ultrawide snappers from the Pro Max plus a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. Finally, we have the standard X500 with a 6.59” 1.5K LTPS OLED HRR panel, Dimensity 9600 SoC, and the same cam setup as the Pro.
The Vivo X500 series release is scheduled for late September or early October. This is when the Xiaomi 18 series arrives as well, with towering Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro SoCs. Check out this space as we bring more about the X500 series and the actual launch date.
