  • Apple India recorded $10 billion in annual sales during the last fiscal year.
  • This is a billion more than last year's and a 67% growth compared to the numbers three years ago.
  • Apple India wants to make India its manufacturing hub ending reliance on China which at one point, had 100% of the total manufacturing capability.

Apple has reached a significant milestone in India, with the company reportedly generating around $10 billion in sales during the financial year ending March 2026. Apple India sales have now crossed the $10 billion annual revenue mark for the first time, highlighting the success of the company’s long-term strategy in one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets.

The latest figures also represent strong growth for Apple’s India business. The company is estimated to have recorded around $9 billion in revenue during FY25 and approximately $8 billion in FY24, reflecting steady year-on-year expansion and an overall growth of around 67% over the past three years.

Apple India sales continue to grow despite premium pricing

For years, India has been a market largely dominated by affordable Android smartphones. Despite this, Apple has steadily expanded its presence without moving away from its premium pricing strategy. Instead of competing on price, the company has focused on making its ecosystem more accessible through flexible financing options, wider retail availability, and increased local manufacturing.

No-cost EMI plans have reduced the upfront cost of buying an iPhone, while trade-in offers have encouraged existing smartphone users to upgrade. Apple has also continued selling previous-generation iPhones at lower prices, giving buyers more affordable entry points into its ecosystem. These initiatives have helped the company attract first-time Apple customers as well as users looking to switch to the premium smartphone segment.

Retail expansion strengthens Apple’s presence

Apple’s retail expansion has also played an important role in its growth. The company opened its first official Apple Stores in Mumbai’s BKC and Delhi’s Saket in 2023 before expanding to Bangalore, Pune, and Noida. Earlier this year, Apple opened its sixth retail store in Borivali, Mumbai, and is reportedly preparing another outlet in Bengaluru. Alongside its own stores, Apple-authorized resellers have continued expanding into smaller cities, helping the brand reach customers beyond major metropolitan areas.

Local manufacturing supports Apple’s growth strategy

India has simultaneously become one of Apple’s most important manufacturing hubs. Production partners including Foxconn and Tata Electronics now assemble millions of iPhones in the country, allowing Apple to reduce import duties, strengthen its supply chain, and improve product availability.

However, local manufacturing should not be confused with domestic sales. A significant portion of iPhones assembled in India is exported to international markets, particularly the United States. In fact, around 55 million iPhones were reportedly manufactured in India during the last fiscal year, up from approximately 36 million units a year earlier, with many of those devices destined for overseas markets.

iPhone leads, but Apple’s ecosystem is expanding

While the iPhone continues to account for the majority of Apple’s revenue in India, the company’s business has become increasingly diversified. Products such as MacBooks, iPads, Apple Watch models, AirPods, accessories, and subscription services including Apple Music and iCloud are contributing a growing share of Apple’s overall business as more consumers enter its ecosystem.

India vs China: A different market for Apple

Despite Apple’s strong momentum in India, the market remains very different from some of its global counterparts. For comparison, Apple generated $18.8 billion in quarterly revenue from Greater China during a recent quarter, although that figure came in below analysts’ expectations amid intense competition from local smartphone brands.

India also continues to be a relatively expensive market for Apple products due to taxes and exchange rates. For example, the base iPhone 17 is priced at ₹82,900 in India, compared to $799 in the United States.

Apple’s India growth story is far from over

Overall, crossing the $10 billion sales mark reflects Apple’s gradual but successful expansion strategy in India. Rather than chasing higher volumes through lower prices, the company has strengthened its retail presence, expanded financing options, increased local manufacturing, and continued building its broader ecosystem. With premium smartphone demand continuing to rise and retail expansion still underway, India is becoming one of Apple’s most important markets outside its traditional strongholds.
