- Apple has finally gave in to the rising component costs.
- This comes months after the ongoing situation around supply chain constraints, chip shortage, and increasing memory/storage chips pricing.
- Fortunately, iPhones and AirPods are immune to the price hikes as of writing this.
Looks like Apple just entered the race to hike pricing on its products, effective immediately, citing ever-increasing memory costs. In fact, we have seen a significant increase in the pricing months after the Cupertino giant absorbed an exorbitantly rising cost of components, and yet, all it could do was wait until now to hike the pricing across the portfolio. Fortunately, iPhones are spared from the price hike just yet.
Apple price hikes come amid rising component costs
According to the latest update, the Cupertino-based giant has entered the race of price hikes on its products. The move comes months after OEMs have been battling rising component pricing and supply chain constraints amid the chip shortage and regional turmoil. Turns out Apple has been absorbing a large share of these costs for months; however, there’s always a breakdown.
Apple has issued new prices across a ton of products, including iPads, MacBooks, HomePod, and Vision Pro. The relief is that the entire iPhone lineup, AirPods, Apple Pencil, and Studio Display are unaffected by the Apple price hikes.
There’s a huge disparity across price hikes. For instance, the Mac mini 256GB now costs $799, a massive $200 increase. Tim Cook, CEO at Apple, was reported to have said the move was inevitable amid soaring costs of storage and memory chips. It is commendable how Apple mitigated cost increases over the months; however, the situation has become unsustainable, making it one of the major price hikes to hit the Cupertino shores.
