Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite Launched in India

Xiaomi, the company which is well known for producing smartphones with decent specifications and actually sell them for a lower price, in short, the people’s choice.

Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite are Xiaomi’s first smartphone which is focused mainly on selfies. We do know some smartphone making companies who focus a lot on the front camera and Xiaomi now joins the elite force.

 

The company states that the new Y1 series is mainly focused on the youth of today since many of them are driven towards being a social media influencer. The youth of today love taking pictures with their front camera and hence Xiaomi has provided the Y1 series with a 16-MegaPixel front camera with a LED selfie light. Xiaomi not only announced the smartphones but the also confirmed the availability of MIUI 9 Global ROM.

Redmi Y1 comes in two variant just like any other budget-oriented smartphones. 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB variants the latter is priced at Rs. 8,999 and the other variant is priced at Rs. 10,999.

The Redmi Y1’s selling point has to be its front-facing camera which packs in 16 Mega-Pixel sensors along with a LED selfie light as mentioned above. Xiaomi will also be adding the Beautify 3.0 feature along with it which basically helps to beautify selfie photos, previously seen on OPPO devices. To the back is a 13 Mega-Pixel camera with PDAF and dual-led flash.

 

Since Xiaomi announced the  MIUI 9, the Y1 will be running on it out of the box. The Redmi Y1 will be sporting a 5.5inch HD display, 720×1280 pixels. It’ll also come with Corning Gorilla Glass for extra protection. The Y1 will pack in a octa-core Snapdragon 435 SoC, with either 3GB or 4GB RAM. The device will be having a decent sized 3080mAh battery and will weigh 153 grams. The Y1 will measure 153×76.2×7.7mm.

Taking a look at the Redmi Y1 Lite, it has the same 5.5 inch HD screen and will be running the MiUI 9 with 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor.

The Y1 Lite will have support for dual Man sim and will also have microSD card slot to expand the storage. The lite version will be having a 5megapixel front camera and the rear camera will be sporting a 13megapixel sensor. The battery remains same.

There are tons of new features introduced with MIUI 9 version with various animated icons for apps like contacts, phone and Mi community. It’ll also allow the users to switch positions of the apps in a single step and tons of other features.  Let us know your thoughts on this.
