  • HMD just expanded its classic phone lineup with the Nokia 2360 Flip, featuring a foldable dual-screen build tailored for seniors and students.
  • A new feature called Family Assist lets children or relatives manage volume, contacts, and reminders on the phone from afar.
  • The handset relies strictly on legacy 2G networks, limiting its usability in markets phasing out 2G towers.

Whereas most companies compete on how much artificial intelligence they can stuff into their flagship smartphones, HMD listened to my rant and choose an entirely new approach with its latest offering. The Nokia 2360 Flip has been unveiled by the company, which is a simple clamshell feature phone that has been designed for users who do not want any digital clutter at all. Let’s break down the story.

Nokia 2360 Flip with remote family control and built-in SOS

Based on the fact that HMD’s classic range has been analyzed by me during the last couple of years, it is clear for whom this product has been designed.

Remote control that helps solve daily technology woes

What is not discussed about the Nokia 2360 Flip is how well it handles performance issues in terms of its hardware. What is interesting about this particular phone is an additional software option known as Family Assist.

If you have ever had the experience of explaining how menu options work to your technologically illiterate parent through the telephone, then you understand the pain that Family Assist aims to remedy. Through the use of your personal phone, you can actually control your family member’s Nokia 2360 Flip remotely.

Safety is just as much of a focus. HMD has added an exclusive physical SOS button on the rear shell. A single click immediately connects you with the main emergency contact number and broadcasts SMS to as many as five predefined numbers.

Classic dual-screen layout and basic needs

In terms of visual aesthetics, the classic design of the Nokia 2360 Flip includes a flip phone form factor. Once you open it, you get access to the main screen measuring 2.8 inches, whereas the small one measuring 1.77 inches helps to see caller IDs and time.

Here is how the key hardware configuration looks like:

  • Display screens: 2.8-inch primary TFT display, 1.77-inch secondary LCD display
  • Battery: 1,450 mAh removable battery that charges using USB Type C
  • Cameras: Rear QVGA camera
  • Storage: 4MB internal memory with expansion up to 32 GB using microSD cards
  • Audio: Loudspeaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, and MP3 media player capabilities

Since the mobile device uses the Series 30+ operating system, which does not involve any demanding applications, the battery of 1,450 mAh lasts for up to 15 days in standby mode and 27.5 hours of talk time.

Nokia 2360 Flip 2G network facts

One of the key limitations that should be taken into consideration when advising someone to buy this particular mobile is the fact that the Nokia 2360 Flip is capable of working only within the 2G network frequency bands (900/1800 MHz dual band).

In case the cell phone operator in your area has stopped operating their 2G cell towers, there is no way your Nokia 2360 Flip will function properly.

Color & availability options

HMD is offering the Nokia 2360 Flip in three colors, including Charcoal, Teal, and Burgundy Red. The phone has been officially listed, but HMD has not yet confirmed pricing in regional stores. So I’m really happy to see a phone that fully fulfills my requirement. May I know your thoughts in the comment section?
