2017 has been a year of new trends for smartphones especially with the bezel-less designs coming into the market. But the one thing that bugs me the most is that all the smartphone makers are ditching the headphone jack. It all started with Apple and then it continued on its way to Pixel and now to Sony, one of the smartphone manufacturers who has kept the headphone jack on their devices seem to be ditching it as well.
A Sony smartphone was currently spotted in the FCC documents whice was referred to as ID PY7-21831A. The documents reveal a diagram which shows a smartphone with the combined headphone jack which is connected to the USB-C port. Which clearly suggests there won’t be an external port for the headphone jack.
This was first spotted by the folks at Xperia Blog. The listing doesn’t give away much except for the screen which might be a 5.7-inch display and it looks like Sony might be ready to adapt the 18:9 display. The device’s overall dimensions are listed as 152.79 x 72.42 mm which would make this phone a tad smaller to Xperia XZ Premium which was unveiled last year at the MWC 2017.

Lately, we’ve been seeing a lot of leaks and renders pointing out to the Xperia XZ2 and it may not be wrong to say that the listing is indeed of the XZ2. Sony has been known to provide its users with high-quality audio devices with its Xperia devices and with the headphone jack gone it’s sure to disappoint a lot of people. As far as specifications are concerned nothing is confirmed as of now but it’s most likely to be a top-end from the company.
