Some information on Samsung’s incoming flagships, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge was recently published by a company intern source. The two major changes Samsung has to offer are a microSD slot, possibly expanding the storage up to 200GB, and IP67 dust- and water-resistance certifications.

Display

Both the S6 and the S6 edge came with a 5.1-inch display, which was kept the same for the S7. The screen diagonal of the S7 edge’s curved display though, supposedly will measure 5.5 inches.

The resolution of the S7 and S7 edge’s Super AMOLED screens remains at 1440 x 2560 quad HD. Samsung will add the always-on display functionality to their new phones, allegedly consuming only 1% battery per hour, showing pre-downloaded content.

Internals

In terms of internals, Samsung’s Exynos 8 Octa 8890, featuring four high-performance 2.3GHz cores and four power-efficient 1.6GHz cores are promised. Rumors claim, the North American S7 and S7 edge will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC. Independent on the region, probably the same 4GB of RAM and two storage options, 32GB or 64GB, will be offered. A 128GB version is also not out of question.

Camera

Surprisingly, the S7 and S7 edge will come with a 12 megapixels sensor, a downgrade from the previous 16 megapixels. The featured f/1.7 lens aperture is said to do great in low light sceneries.

Also worth mentioning, is that the camera will be flush with the phones back, unlike the S6’s camera.

Battery

Not much to tell about the batteries, the S7 will have 3000mAh, the S7 edge slightly longer-lasting 3600mAh. Wireless charging supposedly will take 2 – 2.2 hours.
